About Us
Alex and Louis are two mates who took a chance, chased a dream, and built something extraordinary. Their story began in the mines of Broken Hill, where a shared passion for the outback and helicopters set them on a wild new course.
Louis, an experienced musterer and helicopter pilot, had flown across NSW, the Northern Territory, Queensland, and Western Australia. Alex, on the other hand, had only been in a helicopter twice—but he’d always dreamed of flying.
“One day I said to him, ‘What do you think about buying a helicopter, starting a business? You can fly, I’ll get my licence, and we’ll give it a shot,’” Alex recalls. And just like that, Far West Helico was born.
Since launching in 2022, they’ve grown from a single Robinson R22 to a full fleet, including a Robinson R44. But Far West Helico is more than just aerial mustering—it’s about adventure, precision and delivering exceptional service. Their highly skilled pilots offer services ranging from scenic flights and event charters to mustering, aerial surveying, powerline inspections, and even television appearances.
You might have already seen them in action—whether it was chasing down Daniel Ricciardo on Red Bull TV or appearing on Outback Opal Hunters.
From dust-covered cattle stations to high-flying TV stunts, Alex and Louis are living proof that big dreams and a bit of outback grit can take you anywhere.
